King Fishing the Wild Coast
Casting Creeks on the Alaska Peninsula

Isolated beaches along the Bering Sea hold all sorts of surprises, such as this brown bear that charged out of a small depression when our Jeep passed by. Wildlife viewing is part of the appeal when fishing in Alaska. This red fox kept us company while we fished a coastal river for chinook salmon. Remote beaches are the place to find Japanese glass balls. Sometimes you find them resting loose on the beach; other times you have to pull them out of the weather-beaten banks with small trowels. Either way, finding these balls is a big score.
