The Alaska Railroad is now offering a new day trip to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Aboard the Glacier Discovery Train, guests will have the opportunity to experience the unparalleled scenery on the southern portion of the Railbelt and be able to check out all of the new and exciting things happening at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center.

Mental_floss recently posted a map created by Janet Loehrke and Jolie Lee of USA Today that shows which state has the most state pride, with Alaska and Montana topping the chart at 77%. Loehrke and Lee used data collected from Gallup to calculate the percentage based on the amount of residents who say their state is "the very best or one of the best places to live." Kim McNett and Bjørn Olson, the first people to bike from Anchorage to Kotzebue, went on a 36-day, 1,000-mile bicycle adventure that led them from the historic Iditarod Trail, over the sea ice on the Seaward Peninsula, and finally into the Arctic Circle. The event, "Explore Wilderness: A Conversation on Alaska Wilderness Values," brought together artists, scientists, Alaska Native leaders, land managers and adventurers to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act, historic legislation that changed the country and Alaska.
The Huffington Post created a list of 20 awesome U.S. cities to visit on an urban vacation or on a cross-country road trip. Along with cities like Nashville , New Orleans, and Honolulu, Anchorage claims a spot on the list for the adventurous and outdoorsy. "If you're looking for an adventure, you can't get much better than Anchorage. Anchorage has all the appeals of an urban city, with perfect proximity to untouched wilderness. While in the city, visit the Anchorage Museum, which recently received a $75 million renovation, or rent a bicycle and tour the city (which has been nicknamed "Bike Uptopia") on wheels.
