Scenes from the 2014 Combat Fishing Tournament

Yesterday marked the 8th Annual Armed Services Combat Fishing Tournament in Seward, Alaska. The Tournament was established to give thanks to the brave young men and women of the United States Armed Services who have served our nation with honor and courage in both the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters of war. In just a few short years the ASCFT has garnered huge success and notoriety and is now considered the largest military appreciation fishing tournament in the United States.

Alaska Magazine's Senior Editor, Dave Costello, was there to capture images from the day.

He and the other captains and crew members participating in the one day tournament volunteered their time and boats to take active duty Alaska-based Armed Service members out on the water. “These guys watch our back 365 days a year,” Savino said. “Figured the least we can do is take ‘em fishing for a day.”
