Imagine driving along a beautiful, but tricky Alaskan road and suddenly seeing a sign warning you there are giant people-eating mosquitos ahead! Don't worry -- there aren't actually giant bugs with a taste for human flesh flying around Alaska. (Although there are plenty of tiny ones!) Silly signs like this line Grande Drive in Denali, Alaska as a way to make drivers laugh and help keep their attention away from "the side of the road with the cliffs."
"Although residents often like to joke that it is, the mosquito isn't actually Alaska's official state bird. (That'd be the willow ptarmigan.)
"You also won't see many coconut trees growing in the far north.
"Judging by signage along Grande Drive in Denali, Alaska, however, you might not necessarily know those things."
