The Alaska Native Heritage Center, located in Anchorage, is celebrating Culture Day on Sunday, June 1st from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. As an added bonus, admission will be free for everyone! Experience Alaska Native dance performances and games demonstrations, artist booths, village site tours, and more.
The Alaska Native Heritage Center is an amazing interactive cultural experience, and it is one of Alaska magazine's "can't miss" destinations while visiting Anchorage, Alaska. More than a museum, the Center provides an opportunity to explore the indigenous cultures of Alaska firsthand - cultures that continue to adapt to modern society, yet still maintain a vibrant identity for the Native peoples of Alaska.
Don't forget to venture outside the facility for an added expereince. Travel down a short wooded path to view six life-sized ancient dwellings representing the 11 culture groups of Alaska. See first hand how Alaska Native peoples thrived in a harsh and unforgiving climate, what their daily lives were like, and how their cultures live today in a changing world.
