Description:
When you think of Kodiak Island, you automatically think of Kodiak bears. Imagine our surprise when we came across not huge bears but huge herds of bison roaming around on the island! They were first brought to the island in the 1990s since they were more "bear resistant" than the cattle that many ranchers were raising. Turns out they're also pretty fence resistant too. The bison seem to wander as they please, leisurely grazing at the base of mountains, over hills, and even taking strolls on the local beaches.
