Description:
Glaciers are massive mounds of ice. I had not photographed one up close before and certainly didn't realize the magnitude of difficulty in photographing a landscape of blue ice with blue water running across its surface. And then came a photographer standing over a moulin where the water was running down into the depths of the glacier. His precarious position puts in perspective the challenges of photographing the twists and turns found throughout the surface of the glacier. The oncoming storm adds a sense of urgency to the scene. Photographed on Root Glacier in Wrangell-St. Elias National Park.
